Dr. Claire Read has had a love of horses and veterinary medicine from a young age. She began riding Western at the age of 5 in Southern California, and then switched to English (hunter/jumper, equitation) when she moved to Pennsylvania at the age of 10. She graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.S. in Biology in 2014, and then went on to work at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (behavioral neuroscience, anesthesiology) and began a Masters in Animal Science at Drexel University before being accepted to vet school. She earned a DVM from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (Equine Track) in 2020. Upon graduating veterinary school she completed an equine surgery and medicine internship at Vermont Large Animal Clinic Equine Hospital in Milton Vermont. Her professional interests include orthopedic surgery, regenerative medicine, lameness, and sports medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys playing sports, traveling, and spending time with family. She is very excited to be joining Tufts’ team as a large animal surgery intern!
