David M Hernke
Dairy Production Medicine, General Surgery

Dr. David Hernke has spent his veterinary career in mixed animal and dairy practice. Originally from St. Charles, Missouri, he spent 8 years in the U.S. Army as an aviation officer, including a tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan. After graduation from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, he practiced in Maine, New York and Connecticut. He has experience working with all animal species, emphasizing general surgery and preventative medicine.

As a faculty member at Tufts Ambulatory Services, he enjoys teaching veterinary students and helping farm clients care for their pets and livestock. When not working, he and his wife, Kristin, spend time hiking, horseback riding, kayaking and gardening.
